Split payments for CAD drafters and building designers

One fee schedule. Every consultant paid.

DrafterShare is planned software for fee proposals, staged invoices and progress claims on your letterhead, with a split payment built in: the homeowner pays one staged schedule and it is divided automatically between you and your engineer, energy rater, surveyor and soil tester.

Pre-launch: DrafterShare is not live yet. The demo uses fictional sample data to show how it is planned to work, as a designer, a homeowner and a consultant. Nothing is sent or charged. How split payments will work

Illustrative example

Stage 4: working drawings and building permit

Homeowner pays onceA$8,000
  • Building designerWorking drawings · own tax invoiceA$5,500
  • Structural engineerFooting and framing design · own tax invoiceA$1,800
  • Energy rater7-star NatHERS assessment · own tax invoiceA$700
Fictional figures for illustration. Planned flow: funds move through a regulated payments provider, never held by the software.

Consultant fees are the messy part of every residential job

Chasing consultant invoices

The homeowner gets separate bills from the engineer, energy rater, surveyor and soil tester, and you field the questions about all of them.

Fronting fees you then recover

Pay a consultant on the client’s behalf and you carry the cash and the admin until you are reimbursed.

Admin eating the job

Chris Knierim, CEO of the Building Designers Association of Australia, has said many members report spending up to a third of their job on admin. Fee proposals, invoices and chasing payments are part of that load.

What it will do

In development
  1. Send a fee proposal on your letterhead

Stage by stage, with each consultant’s fee listed by name.

  2. Client accepts and pays online

Planned options include PayTo and direct debit as well as card.

  3. Approve the stage, release the payment

When the client signs off a drawing set, the stage payment request goes out.

  4. One payment, split to everyone

Each consultant receives their share with a tax invoice in their own name.

Consultants

Paid when the stage is paid

Engineers, energy raters, surveyors, soil testers and town planners receive their share directly, with their own tax invoice. Consultant access is planned to be free.

Help shape it before launch

We are looking for a small group of Australian design practices and consultants to pilot this on one or two real projects.
